I fell in love with Silk-ka , a company for artificial flowers from Holland. The flowers looked absolutely amazing!!! It was an experience to be in their stand! Unfortunately is their website under construction, so I can't share much more right now.

of my latest Bunnies. I'm happy I had the chance to try new color combination - chocolate brown, soft green and blue. I personally like it very much - never thought brown could be that interesting! The other one has green Monogram with pink berries. I have done this before, but this Bunny has letter "e" on it, so I have to make new photos :) Hopefully we 'll have nice bright day today, so I can take good photos of these. Have a great weekend!

Hi friends! I'm busy to get some new Easter Bunnies done :) And its really nice to fiddle with pinks, lavenders and blues because the world outside is very cold and plain. White, gray snow, bare trees, low skies.... I need more color around me, seriously! I have come up with new color combination that I'dlove to try. What do you think of turquoise with fresh green? I myself am not a big fan of Alice, I don't know why. Maybe I read the book in wrong time and should read it again? But fact is, I LOVE the art which is inspired by her and by the story! All the crazy characters, the shrinking and growing, little symbols (yes, the key) etc. Plus, a new upcoming movie experience only confirms that it is the right time for a little bit of Alice. there are numerous blue tones I love, this is one of my favorites. I call it cornflower blue - it is in the right hue according to cornflowers we have in Estonia. I did presume they look same everywhere but seeing so many different blues (in Flickr) and even those that grow here in Germany, I understood that there is no universal cornflower blue :)

Todays post is a little bit unexpected because I originally did n't plan to write anything, but, as you'll read further, you'll understand why I did.
This morning I just made myself a nice cup of coffee and after finishing my everyday "round" (e-mails, Etsy, blog, Flickr)found myself browsing pages and pages of illustrations, graphic art etc in Deviantart . And then I stumbled upon magic! I was struck from first glance and finding out more about this incredible artist, I knew, I have to share it with you :)
Her name is Alexis Anne Mackenzie and she's a collage artist. In her own words: "My general intent, throughout all my work, is to portray the world as a flawed thing of beauty - a place that shines brightly, but has a dark side to match." Please read more about her here. She also has a blog - Cocoon Balloon.
I think her art embodies the phrase "possibilities are endless". To create words with hundreds of tiniest flower details is incredible! I hope you find her work as amazing and inspiring as I do :) Enjoy!

to balance off the pastel dreams - here are the latest linen hedgehogs with dark purple and dark red/pink flowers. I love the red ones, but boy, are these difficult to photograph! The color just is n't right! The best description to that certain tone is: "the tone of a deep dark red with a hint of purple cyclamen color". Now you know what I'm talking about, yes? ;) To help you out with this imagination "exercise" I added some photos of cyclamen I found in Flickr. The last photo is my favorite of all cyclamen photos I came cross during my search. Although it does n't show that certain color, it is simply a breathtaking image. Enjoy!

This little charming birdie necklace is behind my new "line" of hedgehogs. It is the inspiration I hinted some time ago. Don't you just love it?? I do!!! I love everything about this piece - the bird, the flowers, the colors, silver -everything!
So after "discovering" this little birdie, I felt immediately that I have to have it! And after couple of days admiring it in Etsy, I contacted Mia, asking if she would like to trade with me. And she did!! At the time communicating with her I wanted to create a new, special hedgehog for her. Something that would reflect the little bird necklace and same time have Mias personal color preferences. Her favorite colors were beige, brown, aqua, blue and red. Perfect? Perfect!! She is also a very, very friendly person to talk to and despite her unbelievably busy work schedule (I guess), she always responded to even shortest convos :)
That's the "birth story" of my new hedgehogs. Thank You, Mia!!!!!!!!

Being overwhelmed with so many beautiful, inspiring and simply cute images/design/stuff ; I've started thinking about creating a new blog. A blog that reflects my style (if I have any), and could be used as a source of inspiration or motivation, whatever is most needed at the moment. At the same time, I also consider the possibility of doing the same here, in apple and eve's blog. Because so many friends come here and are familiar with the path, sort of :)
So now I don't know which option is "better" or which one you, my friend, find best - to create a brand new blog filled with eye candy; or to expand apple and eve blog, keeping my own work and new inspiration together. What do you think?

You did n't think I would make only one of the new hedgehogs, did n't you? Of course not!
I also made one with salmon pink and one with soft purple tones. The colors are slightly different from real colors, but that's just because my camera is so primitive :( I also tried out new background. It's a natural white linen tablecloth, so it creates a slightly stronger contrast between hedgehogs and background. Unfortunately, we had a quite grim weather yesterday so the light is not optimal. In fact, I can see that the photos are more blue than they should be. I'll try again with better light as soon as possible.
I'm very hopeful of getting a new camera soon!! Plus - I have organized a photosession with someone who takes great photos and is really outstanding in this media, so stay tuned! I plan to have very special Easter celebration at appleandeve :)

I could n't wait any longer to show you my newest hedgehogs....here they are!
I got inspiration from a piece of jewelry which I also (kind of) had to buy for myself. If something gives you so much of emotional inspiration, you need to keep it close, yes? Do you have some special items that have the magic to inspire you over and over again?
But - hedgehogs. I chose natural linen because of it's simplicity. Aqua and blue are also simple tones we see a lot every day, yet they create such a lovely combination. It looks very dreamy and nostalgic, kind of fairytale-like to me:)
I also happened to create new flower design. Similar to ones you saw on Easter Bunnies. Teardrop shaped leaves are easy to embroider and I love the overall result. I hope you like/love them too! enjoy!

... green tea!
I started drinking it because of one special mug I got for my 27th Birthday. Just for the sake of taking this mug out and looking at it and holding it, I thought it deserves a special drink too. So I decided to try (and stick to) green tea. Of course I did n't know how to prepare it properly so it tasted like bitter grass. Pouring boiling water on the tea leaves and hoping every time it won't get that "grassy" :) However I just kept drinking it so I got used to bitterness etc. So about 5 years ago I found out how to make it right, that it would taste as it should. Lucky me! Now I have to buy and taste every different kind of green tea I discover. By saying "green tea" I also refer to white tea which is basically the same but it's not as fermented as green tea is.
I also love all kind of body products that contain or smell like green /white tea. But please, I don't like chocolate with green ingredients!!!

Here are my latest hearts - maybe for Valentines Day, maybe just so for the cuteness of it :) I have couple more ideas of what to embroider on heart ornaments, but lets see if I have time to create those.
I have also mentioned hedgehogs recently but since it has still remain a surprise to someone, I will wait until it's OK to show these :) It's hard to keep secrets, is n't it?? But I promise its really really worth waiting!

Ok, but I can still tell you what I have accomplished so far - 6 tiny hedgehogs (yes, in 3 short days), a patchwork bedspread for my little Tristan (who's birthday is today!!) and one super huge hedgehog - to serve as a pillow or a toy, depending on the mood of the owner - Tristan ;)
Now, I actually do have pictures in my camera, but the problem is, my husband has our laptop with him on vacation, so I'm dealing with an OLD computer right now. I don't have any photo editing programmes here (don't even suggest downloading one - this will freeze it forever) and I can't show you unedited photos... Yes, that far have I come - nowadays I would not imagine to live/ exist and function without a photo editing program!!! Quite honest - when did you last uploaded some photos what did n't require any editing whatsoever???

I have made couple of pillows for our little people. I loved this blue paisley fabric and thought it would be perfect for puppies. And because the puppy - pillow is quite small itself, I made another to go with it. So now I have two pairs of puppy pillows - one with a puppy looking left and one, looking to the right. What a great company !

Hello my friends! How are you? Busy with last preparations for Halloween?
I have been busy with some Bunnies and couple of Hedgehogs. And starting a totally new project - making myself a handbag! Yes!!! I have one pretty old, but I love it's shape and it's in perfect size, so I decided to take it apart, draw the pattern and recreate it with fabric. I have chosen black velvet with small chequered imprint. So far I have had great fun and I enjoy discovering little details about it. I can't wait to finally sit down and start cutting out fabric!!! And of course, there will be pictures about the progress :) But not today, sorry...

I'm sorry, I could n't reply earlier, because I was at work. Now I'm home and I see such a wonderul response to my idea!
I would say - let's do it right away! I try to put all the details here. Please remind me if I have missed something, OK?

1. Please send me your fabric (no silk or slippery fabric or too thin, like organza; also not too heavy, like denim or brocade). The best hedgehogs are born out of cotton, linen, cotton-linen mix or cotton-polyester mix.
2. The fabric piece must be not smaller as 60 X 44 cm (23'' X 17,3'') EDIT: the fabric should be 33 X 24 cm!!!!!!! I can't believe, I have given you wrong measurements, so SORRY!!!!
3. Include your mailing address and e-mail address, so I can send you invoice directly from PayPal (to ship your hedgehog back to you)
4. You could also write what you want me to do with fabric scraps (if there are any).
5. Please note that your hedgehog will have only embroidered eyes, no additional embroidery.
6. Contact me for my mailing address - myappleandeve@yahoo.com

crazy idea....or not?

well, I was thinking about two tiny hedgehogs I made of vintage cotton, remeber? Sadly, I had only small scraps of that fabric, so maybe only one hedgehog will be available in my shop later. But then I thought, that you, my dear friends, have maybe some lovely bits of fabrics in your homes too. So, what if I could make a tiny hedgehog for you from your own fabric? For free?

This is how it would go:
1. You send me your fabric (enough for two tiny hedgehogs)
2. I'll make one hedgehog for you, one hedgehog for me.
3. You get your hedgehog for free (pay only for shipping)
4. I get my reward by selling other hedgehog in my Etsy shop

Now, this is just an idea (a crazy one), so I'm asking you to give your opinions on this - is it good, is it bad, would you do it, how would it be done at best etc etc . ALL thoughts and ideas are welcome!!!!
PS if you don't like it at all, I'm not going to force anyone :) hihi!

Hi, how are you?
I'm very well, thank you! I'm also (quite suddenly) very busy. Yes, even more than before. And most important, I'm busy outside my home!
I got a phone call on Monday, asking if I'm still interested of a job, I applied 4 weeks ago. I said yes, I am. Then they kindly asked me to come over for an interview (in 4 hours time). I said, yes, I can make it. The interview took about 15 minutes, which was very nice and friendly. So I knew I "scored" at least a bit :)
Next day I got a phone call, saying, I was accepted and asking if I could start next day. I said yes, I can. And, since Wednesday I have been working every day. Working today too!
And where is this "work" you may ask?
It's a little NICI shop in center of Frankfurt. NICI is a (originally) plush toy company, established in 1986, in Germany. Now they sell far more than toys - home deco, office articles, mugs, plates, books, bags etc. However, most of the people who enter the store, will leave it with a plushie :)
It is the perfect work place for me, yes? YES!!!!!!

Here is my very small fabric collection. These are from my latest trips to markets, so it's not much, I know. Till now I have n't focused on fabric hunting that much. I used to buy white cotton only (you know why), but lately I feel that I need colors! Yes, I absolutely need to see more pinks, lavenders, purples, reds and all the shades of blues there is in the whole world! I know that buying and collecting fabrics is dangerously addictive, but I so want to be addicted!!! Seeing beautiful color combnations and feeling different textures is making me happy! And inspired too!
Many of you have probably huge piles of fabrics and then some more.... so tell me how did it all begun for you?
PS I have another gorgeous little collection, but I can't take photos today. As soon as there is more light, I will share my Most Gorgeous Fabrics with you, promise!

I made it thinking about little boys who like to discover the world. Since they are not very tall, their world and adventures start at grass level -watching smallest bugs and critters, ladybugs and ants... So interesting! I would like to know howcome ladybugs are always on their way to home, never from home?
Oh, and do you know how is a ladybug called in german? Marienkäfer - Maria's bug :) lol!

I'm not entirely happy with it (although it's the 5th prototype!), so I'm not convinced if I should go on. I'm more like - "I have to try again, again, again". But just because I have hinted about it for so long time, I'm kind of obliged to show it/him to you :)

bees and berries, berries and bees

It's supposed to be a hedgehog for boys - with blue colors (my camera is SO lying - these berries are in navy blue!) and bees instead of tiny frilly butterflies. I kinda like it...but next time I'll make this left twig with big berries just a tad bit smaller, and move the bees just a tad bit lower. I'm not perfect, as you can see...Otherwise - since I really love my bees, I think it's a cute hedgehog.
PS are you tired of seeing hedgehogs already? or can you take some more...

turquoise is the color of happiness

and therefore the perfect color for my tiny happy hedgehog! I made this for my friend and she absolutely adores everything in turquoise. I had to think though, what colors to use for flowers and since I'm pretty careful about my color choices, I thought white would be the only option. So the tiny white flowers create a peaceful background for those extra happy and extra turquoise butterflies. I loved the result and I hope (fingers crossed) you love it too!!!!!!

two tiny ones

I made these two cuties yesterday! And just because this hedgehog is one of my most popular items ever, I wanted to try it with a red flower too. It's a very simple design, delightful to embroider and the colors are a bit darker than usually. I think these would make a lovely Christmas presents! uuuppppsss.... did I just say "Christmas"? in august???? oh well, now you know what I am thinking about already :)

My personal favorite flowers since childhood are forget-me-not's. I guess I have loved tiny wee things since I was tiny wee thing myself :) Also, their color is somewhat mysterious - it looks like a simple blue tone, yet I was almost driving myself nuts trying to find that right hue for embroidery. sigh.... Maybe it's just me chasing something that does n't exist anymore, only in my memories? You know, like - the grass was greener etc etc. But the bunny looks gorgeous, does n't it? I so hope some little child will have it to play with soon :)
What are your childhood flowers, I'd like to know? And do they have the same magic they once had?
PS I'm sorry, but my camera does not like to record colors as they are in reality. Therefore those you see above are not quite the same blue as they really are. You can hop over to Etsy to see the Bunny in its full glory :)

linen cuteness

Those two birds look like brother and sister, don't you think? They carry same embroidery - queen anne's lace in simple backstitch with loose ends. My goal was to make something very very simple and quick, so I could have fun and enjoy :) Not that I don't enjoy larger projects - I definitely do! But something easy is always nice - to fill one hour here or there with something I love :)

. . .cast away all my fears and made . . . a doll!
Ever since the whole crafty-craziness started (for me), about 2-3 years ago, I have been drawn to little cute dolls. I so wanted to have those and make them myself! Yet everytime I sketched something, it looked not "my" doll. So, unhappy with my sketches, I just postponed the idea for future. And so on and on and on....until yesterday! When I really got inspired by Tantehilde's cute girls, and quickly drawed one by myself. And...for the first time, it looked like a real tiny person! Like "my" doll! So, couple of drawings later I was ready to give it a try.
Now, since Apple and Eve is all about simplicity, I did n't bother about finding a perfect fabric for head, arms and legs and for a cute dress. I simply took the material I use for all my other stuff. And this is what set things in perfect place! She is simple and cute, not fancy or intricate. Just a plain doll. With a tiny red flower.
Oh, and in case you are wondering, her name is Siri :)

I'm thinking if there is a general size to ragdolls? If you know, please let me know too, ok :)

so here is another cute one today!
I wanted to create more colorful embroidery, since I noticed that I tend to use only one color. So now I mixed pink and purple. The flower hearts are in fresh and contrasting light green. Something new for me again :) The fact that there is more girly colors in my shop than boy - colors, is inevitable I think. Girls want (and get) more stuff anyway! Am I right?
I have already listed it in Etsy too. I think I'm excited to see whether my dear customers like it as much as I do :)

The weather in Frankfurt promises to be as hot as + 30 degrees...so better get done with errands before noon. Or at least stay indoors.
Yesterday I had an emergency fridge clean-up, because it was so full of ice, I couldnt pull the drawers out (who put the idea of having ice cream coctail to my mind??) . So I spent almost 2 hours shuffling snow and knocking ice clunks from freezer. For the very first time, I really enjoyed it! Nice and cool activity, despite of +30 degrees outside and (probably) +25 degrees inside. And after the hard work I rewarded myself with a huge glass of ice cream coctail! That was the best part of my day yesterday :)

It's about life and crafting of a German artist Suse Bauer who creates most fantastic and colorful soft Things iin the world. Trees, dolls, whales etc etc. You may think you have seen them all, but I'm sure that if you go and take alook at her stuff, you'll be surprised again :) Promise!

having a fresh cup of coffee at hands and opening mailbox, and there it is! A sale! Yay!
My tiny happy hedgehog has been sold :) It was featured at Etsy Finds at Storque, and I guess couple of right words (or right pictures) in right place do the magic! Me so happy!
I will also list a special order today, but because of my new crappy camera (I did n't buy it, it was a lottery win) I'm reluctant to post any pictures at Etsy. They would stay there forever!!!
So listing two bunnies with "fake" photos and sending the "real" ones to buyer with convos. So much heartache and headache because of camera! Who could have known that such a minor thing would become an absolute necessity in my life!

Just look at those linen toys - are n't those sweet? I think half of their charm is because of the linen - it's just so natural and gorgeous neutral tone - it complements every color used.
